The Brief

To design a new space that allowed the existing period property to be extended in a seamless and elegant way, blending old and new.

We loved this one. Our client, Sylwia, has an incredible eye for detail and interior design and when she originally asked us to come and look at replacing her old and tired conservatory it was exciting to see what she was able to do already elsewhere in the house. We knew that we had to match our design carefully to her own vision (and budget) and ensure that the beautiful heritage of her period home was maintained whilst amplifying the new space with some more modern features. An example of this is the glazed roof window within the flat roof extension - we wanted to add character to this and designed the structural roof timbers to remain exposed beneath the window itself. This creates a real wow feature to the space at minimal extra cost, providing natural light as well as architectural interest. The builder was unsure of this during the process but we encouraged them to commit to our vision and the end result is both simple and elegant, just as the brief suggested. This project was featured in July 24’s edition of the 'Style At Home' magazine.
